FAQs
What does 'TCF' or 'chlorine-free' mean on diapers?
TCF (totally chlorine-free) pulp is whitened without any chlorine compounds. ECF (elemental chlorine-free) skips elemental chlorine gas but may use chlorine dioxide. Both greatly reduce dioxin by-products compared with older bleaching methods. Check each brand's page for what it actually uses.
Are water wipes really better for newborns?
Many pediatricians suggest fragrance-free, minimal-ingredient wipes, or just warm water and a soft cloth, for the first weeks and for babies with sensitive skin or eczema. Fragrance and some preservatives are common contact allergens.
Can I use zinc oxide diaper cream with cloth diapers?
Thick zinc creams can build up on cloth diapers and reduce absorbency. Use a disposable or fleece liner between the cream and the diaper, or choose a cream the brand labels as cloth-diaper safe.
